Enrollment, Payment & Credit Policy

How tuition, withdrawals, missed classes, and make-ups work. Please read this before you enroll — you agree to these terms at registration.

The short version: Tuition is paid at enrollment. As a rule we issue an account credit rather than a cash refund when you withdraw within the allowed window. But there are two cases where we return your money: if we cancel a class (or it doesn’t run), or if a serious illness keeps a student out for the entire semester. Details below.

1. Enrollment & payment

Enrollment is completed online through our enrollment portal. Full tuition for a class is due at the time you enroll, and your student’s spot is confirmed once payment is received. Payments are processed securely through Square; we never see or store your full card number. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Class sizes are limited and fill on a first-come basis, so a completed, paid enrollment is what holds a seat. A one-time $15 registration fee is charged just once per family (never on trials, drop-ins, or one-time workshops) and stays active as long as your family takes at least one class per year, as noted on the Schedule & Tuition page.

2. Credit-only policy — no cash refunds

As a general rule, tuition and fees are non-refundable, and when a credit is warranted it is issued as an account credit to your family account in the portal, which you may apply toward tuition for any current or future class. There are two exceptions where we issue an actual refund: a class we cancel or that does not run (section 5), and a documented serious illness that keeps a student out for the entire semester (section 3).

By enrolling and completing payment, you acknowledge and agree that you have read and accepted this credit-only, no-cash-refund policy. This policy is disclosed to you before purchase and your acceptance is recorded at checkout.

Account credit is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued. Credit is non-transferable between families and has no cash value.

3. Withdrawals

Life happens, and sometimes a class no longer fits. If you need to withdraw a student from a semester class:

  • Before the term begins — if you withdraw at least 7 days before the class term begins, we issue an account credit for the tuition paid, minus any non-refundable registration fee.
  • After the term begins — once a semester class has started, tuition is considered earned for the sessions that have run. Any credit for remaining sessions is issued at our discretion and is not guaranteed, since your student’s seat was held for the full term.
  • Serious illness or injury. If a documented serious illness or injury keeps a student out for the entire remaining semester, contact us — we will refund or credit (your choice) the tuition for the unused portion of the term.

To request a withdrawal, contact us in writing at Mustardseedartacademy@gmail.com. The date we receive your written request is the date used to determine your credit.

4. Missed classes & make-ups

Because our classes are group programs with a reserved seat and a set number of sessions, we are unable to issue credit for individual classes a student misses. Where a make-up option is available, students may make up a missed session by attending another comparable class of the same type during the same term, space permitting. For example, a missed Music Together® class can be made up by attending another Music Together® class that week — talk to the instructor about the days and times available. Make-ups are a courtesy, are subject to availability, and cannot be exchanged for credit or carried into a future term. Some classes — especially performance-based and sequential courses — may not offer make-ups.

5. Classes canceled by Mustard Seed

If we cancel a single class session (for weather or instructor illness), we will either schedule a make-up session or issue an account credit for the affected session(s). If a class does not run at all — for example, because minimum enrollment isn’t met — you receive a full refund of the tuition you paid (or an account credit, your choice). We don’t keep your money for a class we cancel. If you joined a class after it had already begun and paid a pro-rated tuition, a refund returns what you actually paid — the same share of the term, not the full-term price.

6. Drop-in classes

Drop-in sessions (Community Sing and Community Drum) are paid per session and are non-refundable once purchased. If you cannot attend a session you paid for, contact us and we will do our best to apply your payment to another drop-in date.

7. Questions

We want enrollment to feel simple and fair. If anything here is unclear, or your situation is unusual, please reach out — we read every message and will work with you where we can.
