Our Story

Jenn has always loved color, texture, and figuring out how things were put together. As a child she would sit for hours and entertain herself with a pair of scissors, a bottle of glue, and a pack of construction paper. Her first job teaching art came at age 16, through her own high-school art teacher — tutoring two younger boys who wanted to learn how to draw.

A mom to four and grandma to one, Jenn is a published children’s author and playwright, sewing pattern designer, illustrator, and all-around creative who loves to share her gifts, skills, and talents with others. She holds a degree in Creative Writing and is a licensed Music Together® teacher.

Aaron studied Theatre at the University of New Hampshire and has spent more than fifteen years performing with a wide range of groups, logging hundreds of performances along the way. He’s at home across a variety of instruments, dance forms, and musical-theatre and vocal styles, and he’s a seasoned performance coach and stage director. He spent six years as a junior intern at the New London Barn Playhouse, returned for two seasons as an assistant director and assistant stage manager, and came back for a ninth year as the guest director of a children’s theatre show.

At Mustard Seed, Aaron teaches piano, guitar, and voice to students of every age, and works alongside aspiring performing artists on performance coaching and portfolio building. Whether a student is picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for an audition, he loves helping them find their voice and the confidence to share it.

Karen comes from a long hereditary line of fiber artists. From great grandmother, to grandmother, and mother to her, fiber is part of her DNA. She started sewing at the age of 12, worked as a professional costume designer for over ten years, attended College for Creative Studies as a fiber major, and now offers classes at various art schools in Michigan.

In addition to being a fiber artist, she is also an accomplished blacksmith, and has recently reconnected with her childhood loves of painting and writing. When she’s not creating, you can find her on her homestead in Livonia spending her time with her husband, their son, and the menagerie of animals she shares her life with.

Caitlyn Keller is a high school senior who started dancing at the age of two. She has loved it ever since. Her favorite styles through the years were Ballet and lyrical. She is so excited to teach kids who she hopes will love dancing as much as she does.

Amy Yu has been a cross stitcher since she was little, but really got into the craft as a college student. She has stitched many types of designs and loves to share her work and connect with other stitchers on social media. She loves teaching others how to cross stitch and hopes that more people can learn this amazing art form that’s been passed down for generations.

Megan Lewandowski’s goal is to bring a warm, collaborative, and hands-on approach to the classroom. She loves helping people explore their own unique artistic side and learning from and with others.

During the day she works as a Special Education Teacher. That role has deeply shaped who she is as an educator, refining her ability to truly listen, adapt projects to individual needs, and build a genuinely supportive community. For more than a decade, her focus has been on creating welcoming spaces where every student can feel creative and successful. She has a rich background in creating and implementing inclusive activities that connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. She can’t wait to jump into the studio at Mustard Seed and learn and grow with you!

Georgia Bowers is a high school junior and has been playing alto saxophone for five years now. She is the drum major for the Clinton marching band and sings in Clinton High School’s choir program. She is also involved in musicals, performing with both Clinton High School and the TYT. She can’t wait to teach kids and spread the joy of music to others.
